Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley says that a deputy observed a driver commit a traffic violation on Oscawana Lake Road in the Town of Putnam Valley on Thursday, April 4 around 12 p.m.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver, identified as Peekskill resident Matthew Perez, allegedly had a suspended New York State Driver’s license.

The deputy also determined that Perez’s license had been suspended 25 times on 10 different court dates, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Perez allegedly had two active warrants out of the Town of Yorktown Police Department, which the deputy confirmed via direct contact.

Perez was arrested and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility. He was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation with 10 or more suspensions, a felony.

Perez was arraigned and released pending a future court date. The Putnam County deputy then transported Perez to a location in Yorktown and turned him over to the Town of Yorktown Police Department for enforcement of active warrants.
